The “Yellow Way” project contributes to the discussion about material aesthetics and material culture in packaging design. Industrially manufactured materials were examined with the aim to integrate them in the design of cosmetic packaging. Following the design process in so-called “informal economies”, the central question arose: what chances and potential do exist for a draft if materials are used that were originally intended for another purpose? These material transformations resulted in fully-fledged products that may find a place on the shelf of a sophisticated boutique.
